These 60’ flat cars with containerized housing unit loads are painted yellow with red heralds and black lettering. They were built in December 1967 and run on Roller Bearing trucks. The Transportation Corps, of which this flat car was a member, was established July 31, 1942 by Executive Order 9082. The Transportation Corps is a combat service support branch of the U.S. Army and is headquartered at Fort Eustis, VA. The Transportation Corps is responsible for the movement of personnel and material by truck, rail, air and sea. Its motto “Spearhead of Logistics.” It is currently the third smallest branch of the Army.
