This caboose with center cuploa is painted red with black roof and cupola. It’s logo and lettering is in white. It was built in 1967 by Hawker Siddeley in Trenton, Nova Scotia, for the Canadian National and runs all of Canada on Bettendorf trucks. This steel caboose is one of 150 cars CN planned to use to replace their fleet of aging wood cabooses. Improvements included the introduction of electricity derived from axle-driven generators to power lights, refrigerators, hot plates and other amenities, as well as additional safety features including electric windshield wipers, safety glass and safety headrests for the cupola and conductor’s desk.
