These powered F7 A and B unit locomotives are painted red with black roof and yellow lettering and logos. They were built by EMD in 1950 and run the Southwestern District. The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (reporting mark KCS) is the smallest and second-oldest Class I railroad company still in operation. KCS was founded in 1887 and is currently operating in a region consisting of 10 central U.S. states. KCS also owns and indirectly operates Kansas City Southern de México (KCSM) in the central and northeastern states of México, and is the only Class I Railroad to own trackage both inside and outside of Mexico’s boundaries.
