Spirit of 1776 - Freedom Train

Just in time for the 4^th of July, the Freedom Train Alco PA1! The Freedom Train ran between 1947 and 1949 touring the United States. The trains concept was to help reeducate and share the principals that the United States was founded on. The concept came from President Truman who was a fan of the railroads.

At PA1 was owned by Alco. Upon completion of the tour, this locomotive would be sold to the GM&O. Seven heavy-weight cars made up the train. All painted to match the locomotive.

The ALCO PAs feature prototype specific details, 7mm can motor, dual flywheels, directional controlled LED lighting, six-axle trucks with blind middle axle (no flange), blackened metal wheels, traction tires, optional snow plow, optional front coupler cover and are DCC ready. Note, the optional plow and coupler cover are located under the box insert.
