These 40’ wood sheathed reefer cars with flush doors and vertical brakewheels are painted box car red with reefer yellow sides. They bear the black, red and white logos and are lettered in black on the sides and white on the ends. They were built in 1945, serviced in May 1963, and run on Bettendorf trucks. World War II steel shortages forced the use of wood sides on otherwise all-steel cars. These Burlington Refrigerator Express cars are stenciled in the post-1958 block gothic lettering.
