This 40’ standard box car with single Youngstown door is painted brown with white post-merger N&W ‘Hamburger Logo’ and white lettering. It was built in May 1924, last serviced in August 1965 and runs on Bettendorf trucks. This box car is a member of a group of cars was originally built by the Wabash in 1924 and numbered into the WAB 84000 series. Cars were converted in 1940 and rebuilt using Wabash gondolas. Series was renumbered adding a ‘3’ to the front of it’s numbers and repainted into the current post ’64 merger N&W scheme.

Great Eastern, this car was repainted in 1979 by the North Vancouver Shops when the railroad was
changed to British Columbia Railway. This 12 car series was insulated and equipped with heaters for
temperature sensitive commodities.

and run on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1940 as part of series 32500-33484, ATSF became
famous for the slogans they applied to the sides of their freight.

Maine Central

These 40’ standard box cars with single doors are green with yellow door and lettering and run on
Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1951 as part of an order of 250 cars, these cars were serviced and repainted
into the green and yellow scheme in 1963. Maine Central was chartered in 1856 and by 1981 it had
more than 1,000 miles of track. It continued to operate until 1981 when it was absorbed by what is
now Pan Am Railways.

trucks. In an effort to develop a new paint scheme, Great Northern decorated a number of box cars in
different experimental paint schemes in 1956 and sent them across the GN network for feedback. Due to
the bright and gaudy colors, this group of cars were dubbed the “Circus Cars”.

These 40’ double-sheathed wood box cars with single doors are brown with white lettering and run
on Andrews trucks. Built in 1918 as part of the 142100-143698 even-number-only-series, it was later
rebuilt into an all steel, wood lined car. The C&NW operated over 12,000 miles of track in seven states by
the late 1970s.
