     And now  NOV. '17 , and a new  9000 Series  model, PENNSY, the consummate standard for all USA Rail Lines!  The PENNSY is one of the most popular Railroads of the model train hobby, collected and operated by Z Scalers from all over the country and the world.  Hope you like this dramatic, stunning new addition to our hobby!

Full Throttle brings a nifty new car style to the Z Scale hobby. We've taken the "old-timey" woodside reefers introduced by Father Nature and performed the same refurbishing that railroads had applied, to extend the usefulness of these dated cars. We've (hypothetically) upgraded the truss rod frame with a steel frame, and replaced Archbar or Andrews trucks to newer Bettendorf types. These venerable and useful cars would be employed in freight/produce or reefer/ice operation through WWII and into the early diesel era, especially on short lines and spurs. Here's a splendid small freight car for your Z Scale action!

Fruit Growers Express

A 34' woodside reefer from the East-West Coast  FRUIT GROWERS EXPRESS initially created for perishable, Eastern agricultural products!  Especially suited for modest Z Scale layouts, this new FT car is the same size as the small FT  hoppers and appropriate for the Steam to Diesel era!  Equipped with Full Throttle  couplers, trucks and metal wheelsets, a heavy weight has been added for flawless tracking.

Now controlled by CSX Corp., Fruit Growers Express (FGE) was an Armour Meats refrigerator car leasing Co., incorporated in 1920 and based in Alexandria, VA  and Jacksonville, FL. C&EI, NH, and N&W became major stockholders. Originally serving the Eastern USA, in 1923 FGE and GN railway formed the Western Fruit Express to compete with Pacific Fruit Express and Santa Fe in the West! FGE expanded into the Midwest and Pacific Northwest USA via a partnership with the CB&Q railroad forming Burlington Refrigerator Express (BREX). All these consolidations, acquisitions and purchases led to thousands of reefer cars on hand and a vital enterprise of freight car repair and servicing. In 1928 FGE formed the National Car Co., a subsidiary to support the meat transportation market. The Alexandria, VA maintenance facility was closed down in 1994.

At the turn of the 19th Century, during America's Industrial Revolution, Railroads refurbished many of their older cars for more modern use.  Steel underframes, Bettendorf trucks, and newer brake systems were employed.  Full Throttle  brings Z Scale a small, renovated 34' freight/reefer/ice car which would find use on the Railroads into the early diesel era!

Full Throttle  models are packed with care into foam cradles, marketed as 2-pks. in 

clear plastic, stackable cases, and complete with colorful cardstock liners including the Railroad Herald and lots of model information!  All FT cars are weighted, use blackened/insulated metal wheelsets and wear knuckle couplers.

A 34' woodside reefer from the Pennsylvania Railroad, initially leased from URTX to keep Dairy Products cooled for delivery! 

This  MAR. '20  model is unique, charming and a wonderful addition to your  Eastern/Midwestern rosters!  It's a PENNSYLVANIA LINES Reefer replete with the Union Refrigerator Transit Line (URTX) "STAR" Herald!  A Dairy Reefer, this model is ideal for small mixed consists of the "Steam to Diesel" era!

By 1882 the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) became the largest in the world having acquired or merged with more than 800 other RR Lines. In the 1920's it had tripled the traffic of either Union Pacific (UP) or Santa Fe (ATSF) and it's only rival was the New York Central (NYC) carrying about 75% of Pennsy's ton-miles. The PRR used the trade name: PENNSYLVANIA LINES to denote it's trackage West of Pittsburgh and Erie, PA, which extended up through Michigan and to the Western border of Illinois. It's Eastern arm was known as LINES EAST and eventually the combination of the two was trademarked as the "Pennsylvania Railroad" replacing "Pennsylvania System." Here's a nifty Dairy Reefer leased for use from the Union Refrigerator Transit Line (URTX) of Milwaukee, WI, boasting nearly 7,500 cars by 1940.

'22   Full Throttle  has a pair of rebuilt reefers which roamed the face of our Country during the first half of the 1900's!  The WESTERN PACIFIC covered our Southwestern and West Coast States, while the FRUIT GROWERS EXPRESS, originally the East and Midwest version of PACIFIC FRUIT EXPRESS, eventually expanded into the Northwest and Western States in competition!  Ice, produce and meats were made available across the USA with these reefers and our nation's population certainly grew!  A wonderful COLLECTOR PACK for our Z Scale runners and welcome on any tracks.  Enjoy!

A very exciting addition this month for your rosters.   Nov. '22   One of our favorites... Santa Fe !

These sweet little rebuilts, still bearing the old livery, were useful from the steam to early diesel era finding homes on spurs and short lines throughout the West.  This is a 2-pk. but please don't over-order, as there will be another 2-pk. of them available in Dec. '22, next month, with two different reporting numbers.  Due to circumstance, I was only able to complete one set for this month. (hurricanes) In the end, the 4-pk. will have been offered.  Track On!

     You will see a price increase of $1 per car on certain models.  I lease two molds from their owners.  Due to our economic and supply-chain woes, the cost of materials has skyrocketed.  This has been passed down to me.  I've eaten the difference on my personal models but can't on the models I lease from others.  I hope you will understand my predicament and accept the slight increase.  As always, I thank you for your loyalty to Full Throttle models and the fervor of which you have let me enjoy.    Faithfully, Will

As explained in a previous Blurb, ten years ago, here at FT , I made three series of drawings for the newly acquired 34' Woodside Reefers.  The first was the Railroad Series (9000) of which we've had many offerings, since.  The second series was a Food Series (9200) in which meats, poultry, dairy, and produce would be featured, and was finally introduced this year!  This month's offering is the first of the third series, Beers (9400).  Affectionately called Beer Wagons, we're starting out with a simple but nationally known prototype livery for the Pride of Milwaukee, Miller Beer!  I hope you enjoy this new series of reefers and will find room on your rosters for them.
