Norfolk Southern was formed in 1982 and grew substantially after the acquisition of roughly half of Conrail in 1999.

Built in 1975 for Norfolk & Western these boxcars were used for food grade loading only. Norfolk & Western was a Class 1 railroad which operated on the east coast from 18381982. It then combined with Southern Railway to form Norfolk Southern.
