These 50’ standard box cars with plug doors are MILW maroon with an aluminum roof, black ends and a broad yellow band on the side. “Milwaukee Road” letters & “The Milwaukee Road” herald decorate the side, matching the car color. Lettering is MILW maroon or yellow. They run on black roller bearing trucks. MILW 2635 classed as “RBL” and is part of the 2600-2654 fifty car series. This series has specially equipped interiors and is not suitable for general service. Over twenty years later, 20 cars from this series were still operating with MILW reporting marks in the same paint scheme.

The cars from this series, 253450-253749, were built by American Car & Foundry and delivered in April of 1976 for the Missouri Pacific®. They are painted light brown with aluminum roof and white lettering which includes the MP ‘buzzsaw’ logo. They were equipped with Evans load dividers and an ACF Freight-Saver cushioning system for additional protection of loads during transport.

The cars from this series, 253450-253749, were built by American Car & Foundry and delivered in April of 1976 for the Missouri Pacific®. They are painted light brown with aluminum roof and white lettering which includes the MP ‘buzzsaw’ logo. These are standard box cars, 50’ in length, painted brown and bearing the Chicago Great Western ‘Lucky Strike’ logo. They were built in August 1963, serviced in September 1967, and run on Bettendorf trucks. All but the first two cars in this series were assigned to the Agent, CGW, St. Paul Minnesota. They were equipped with Keystone Cushion underframes and DF2 equipment from Evans.

FGEX reporting marks due to a labor agreement with the PRR crewman for repair work.

Helena Southwestern

PER DIEM SERIES #2

This 50’ rib side box car with single door and no roofwalk is painted red with yellow band and door
and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. The Helena Southwestern was a short line that operated
in Arkansas and routinely interchanged with Missouri Pacific. In the 1980’s they found themselves
needing new cars that they didn’t have the budget for. The railroad utilized the Per Diem program to add
modern, safe freight cars to their system.
